Planning for the Flu Season

While many business were mildly affected by the Swine Flu in the Spring of 2009, it's you should be aware that the CDC is expecting more communities to be affected even more severely this Fall because of broaderer transmission over the winter of 2009 to 2010. This threat is in addition to seasonal influenza that will now be compunded with the effects of the H1N1 outbreak.

The CDC, unfortunately, isn't able to make predictions accurately in respect to the severity of the H1N1 outbreak this Fall/Winter. As a result, it's important that companies remain flexible and informeded to prevent the chances of the Swine Flu affecting them or their employees. There are 3 main considerations to businesses during the flu season:

• Keeping employees helathy and maintinaing normal hours of operation
• High-risk employees require additional protection such as face masks or respirators
• Transmission between employees should be reduced by purchasing additional hand soaps, hand sanitizers, gloves & face masks

Local websites and news channels are good sources of relevant information as well as state public health authorities, look to them to provide you with the information you need to make an educated decisions about keeping yourself and your employees healthy.
